Desecration December, day 19: At the Gates
At the Gates is another all-time fave. First discovered them as a teenager around the time Slaughter of the Soul came out and shortly before they broke up. I got this shirt when I saw them open for... Amon Amarth, I think? Someone beneath their dignity, anyway. I later got to see them headline on the 25+COVIDth anniversary tour of SotS. That show took place right before my 40th birthday so it became my not-gonna-hate-getting-older fitness goal that year to get into fit enough shape to spend the whole set in the pit - and I did it! RIP singer Tomas Lindberg who died of an aggressive cancer in September this year. I'd been hoping they still had one more good album in them.
