Desecration December, day 14: Sons of Otis
Sons of Otis are a legendary Toronto sludge/doom band who have been around since the mid-90s. I remember hearing about them back in undergrad but I don't think I ever saw them. I did see them for the first time in 2010ish opening for Om, and then again more recently opening for High on Fire - apposite that both of those headliners were projects from each of the guys in Sleep (see day 4), since Sons of Otis play a hypnotic, crushingly heavy, psychedelic drone of riffs. Come to think of it, I also saw them more recently at the Bovine. Anyway, great stuff.
